Planned lane closure on Grosvenor Road / Durham Street due to street works

As part of the Belfast Grand Central Station project, streets surrounding the new transport hub will be upgraded in order to provide an enhanced pedestrian experience for travelers arriving in Belfast. As the main entrance to the new train station will lead travelers down the Grosvenor Road, it is imperative that footways along Grosvenor Road will be upgraded to ensure they can deal with the anticipated increase in pedestrian traffic along the road.

Details for the commencement of street works to Grosvenor Road have now been confirmed. The works are carried out by Farrans on behalf of Translink.

  • The street works are to commence at the Westlink end of Grosvenor Road on Monday 15th April 2024;
  • The street works will last for approximately 3 months;
  • There will be 1 lane closed heading west on Grosvenor Road throughout this time.

Please refer to the traffic management plan for more details.

Separate street works have also been planned on Durham Street to facilitate alterations to the gas network. These works are carried out by Phoenix Gas.

  • The street works take place from Monday 15th April at 9.30am until Wednesday 17th April at 5.30pm;
  • There will be a lane closure to one lane on Durham Street, with the left turn onto Grosvenor Road remaining operational (see Traffic Management Plan).
