Regeneration Vision
The Linen Quarter is experiencing a great renaissance. Since 2015 over £250m of investment has flowed into the District, with significant developments in hotels and offices.
Around £0.5 billion further investment is anticipated in the next 5 years, with £200m invested in a new transport hub; £100m on public realm/infrastructure (including South Glider route, proposed Gasworks bridge, Streets Ahead V and Saltwater Square); £48m on the BBC campus refurbishment, and further investment in offices and student accommodation.
The BID produced its own Regeneration Vision in 2019 that sets out its priorities for the coming years. This includes regeneration of Blackstaff Square, a pocket park in front of BBC Broadcasting House, reconfiguration of Shaftesbury Square, reimaging of Linenhall Street and a cycling corridor between the river Lagan and Belfast Grand Central Station via Bankmore Street and Bruce Street.
