Safe & Clean Week – Autumn 2025

Autumn Safe & Clean Week Took Place 20-24th October, 2025

Read below for an overview of all of the initiatives which took place

LQ HOSTS TWO VOLUNTEER DAYS

LQ BID hosted not one but two volunteer days during our Autumn Safe and Clean Week. We welcomed 35 volunteers from 10 member organisations who collected 36 bags of waste from our district. We also installed countless bulbs and shrubs planted across two sites, Maryville and Bruce Street.

These efforts truly highlight the pride our members take in making our district a cleaner, greener, and more welcoming place for everyone.

Stay tuned: we have a few follow-up projects planned for this autumn!

NEW MURAL ON VENTRY LANE

After extensive engagement with partners and businesses along Dublin Road last year, LQ BID co-funded the installation of alley gates on Ventry Lane over the summer.

This initiative aimed to reduce anti-social behaviour and ensure the lane remains cleaner and safer for everyone.

To complement the new gates, LQ also funded a vibrant mural on a wall that had been covered in graffiti. Although Ventry Lane sits just off the main road, the artwork has been warmly welcomed by local contractors and business owners, who appreciate the colour and character it brings to the area. The before and after shots below speak for themselves.

HOSPITALITY DEEP CLEAN

Throughout SACW, our team focused on cleansing and power washing around our hotels and hospitality venues, just in time for party season. This service is available 6 days per week, so get in touch with any requests.

STUDENT AND STAFF ENGAGEMENT EVENTS

We were delighted to attend two student safety events. Our team visited Vita on Bruce Street and Elms on McClintock Street to deliver safety talks, hold one-to-one chats, and share practical tools that students can use to feel safer in their daily lives. Students at McClintock Street heard from LQBID, PSNI and Belfast’s Night Czar, particularly in relation to safer transport and socialising.

We’re especially delighted to welcome and support the many international students who have chosen to study here in Belfast.

We also met with the Maldron Hotel management team to discuss all this staff safety. These opportunities are made possible by our dedicated Street Beat service, so get in touch to find out more!

PERSONAL SAFETY ALARMS

This SACW we have distributed over 100 safety alarms. If you would like some for staff, get in touch! Contact charlotte@linenquarter.org.
