Safe and Clean Week – Spring 2026

Spring Safe & Clean Week is taking place April 20th - 24th

Read below for an overview on all the initiatives and ways to get involved this Safe & Clean week!

Love Linen Quarter!

LOVELQ Flyer

Love Linen Quarter gives members the opportunity to get involved in volunteer events throughout the year, outside of Safe and Clean Week. Whilst our volunteer days are popular and well-attended, those who wish to organise a bespoke volunteer day for their team are now able to do so. LQ BID is now a member of KNIB’s Corporate Adopt a Spot Scheme, continuing our partnership and maximising our capacity to deliver these events.

Corporate days are capped at 15 participants and will be facilitated by LQ BID’s staff team.

In addition, we are partnering with other organisations to host volunteering events outside of the city centre. In June, we will visit the Belfast Hills Partnership, and in summer, we will host an event as part of Healthy Minds Healthy Oceans. Further details on these flagship events will be provided in our newsletter.

Simply contact Love Linen Quarter lead, Charlotte Irvine, for more information: charlotte@linenquarter.org.

Earth Day: Volunteering Event

Our main event of Safe and Clean Week 2026 is Earth Day, which is part of KNIB’s Big Spring Clean. Last year’s event was our largest to date, with members of the public and children from local schools joining our team.

This year our volunteers will work on planting, litter picking and an exciting community mural. Earth Day will run from 12.00-14.00, with complimentary refreshments in Fratelli.

Thank you to Galgorm Group and KNIB for your support.

Hospitality Deep Clean

Our dedicated clean team work in the district six days per week (Monday-Saturday), carrying out graffiti removal, power-washing and weeding jobs. During Safe and Clean Week, LQ BID are funding additional hours to ensure all hotels and hospitality venues receive a power wash.

In addition, LQ BID carry out regular street audits, to identify new graffiti, infrastructure issues and areas in need of cleansing.

Safety Alarms

LQ BID have put together a contact card for key agencies and partners, to ensure members can access help if they need it. This includes PSNI, council services and outreach organisations. There are also magnets showing our Streetbeat details, that can be displayed in staff areas.

LQ BID offers free personal safety alarms to employees working within the district as part of our commitment to improving safety and wellbeing in the area. These alarms are designed to give workers added confidence when travelling to and from work or socialising in the district.

PSNI Engagement

LQ’s dedicated police officer, Constable Sarah Craig, will be in the district with her team (and a canine companion for a short time) offering advice, support and reassurance to businesses and members of the public. Street Beat also offers safety training for retailers, offices and hospitality.
