The Gasworks Social Space public realm improvement scheme moves a step closer

Following a first round of consultation with local businesses, the Paul Hogarth Company have developed a draft Masterplan for the Gasworks that identifies potential public realm improvements that would benefit the area in the future. While the Masterplan sets out a direction of travel for future years, the potential improvements included are aspirational as  full funding has yet to be secured. However, a first phase of works is anticipated to go ahead next Spring and will focus on the central green space and the Laganside entrance zone.

The BID launched its consultation process on the proposed Gasworks Social Space on the 8th of August, with the first consultation event attracting a good range of representatives from Gasworks businesses and other stakeholders. A range of concept ideas were presented to attendees with a view to record local issues and test support for various interventions. Further rounds of consultation with businesses, residential communities and other stakeholders will take place during the next two months to further inform the design process.
