LQ BID HOSTS BIG SPRING CLEAN FOR EARTH DAY

Linen Quarter BID hosted our first Big Spring Clean volunteer event as part of Live Here Love Here’s Big Spring Clean 2024. Over 30 volunteers from member businesses Arup, Openfolde, CME, Exergy and Andras House conducted litter picking, painting and planting across the district.

In just two hours, participants carried out a variety of activities, including:

  • Painting of the cycle railings on Linenhall Street
  • Painting of the brick planters on Linenhall Street West
  • Planting on Linenhall Street West and Great Victoria Street
  • Painting on Great Victoria Street
  • Planting on the Great Victoria Street gap site as part of our urban ecology initiative.
  • Sowing of wildflowers and flax on Bankmore Square.
  • District-wide litter picking. A total of 16 bin bags of litter were collected from the streets, equating to roughly 1000 litres 0r 15 kg of litter.

Also in attendance were LQ’s gardener Fergal Donnelly, Cleanworks operatives and contract managers, as well as representatives from Keep Northern Ireland Beautiful’s Live Here Love Here team.

A big thanks to all our volunteers who took time out of their busy schedules to help us improve our district!
