Ciclovia Belfast Returns
Ciclovia Belfast provides a traffic free cycling experience through the streets of Belfast City Centre (through the Linen Quarter), whilst aiming to promote community cohesion, physical and mental well-being, cycling awareness and safety. It’s fun, free and for all ages and abilities.
There is no need to sign up, just turn up on the day and enjoy a Sunday morning cycling through the city. The route runs between two hubs located at Botanic Gardens and Belfast City Hall and is accessible from 0930-12pm (noon).
Traffic management will be in place from 08:00am–12:30pm and normal traffic flow will resume at 12:30pm.
Ciclovia Belfast welcomes all non-motorised transport. If you don’t have a bike, you can walk, run, scoot or trike the route. Need a bike? Then visit one of the Belfast Bikes docks, where you can register and pick up a bike for rent. Belfast Bikes docks are located along the Ciclovia Belfast route – for further details visit www.belfastbikes.co.uk.
Managing Director at LQ BID, Chris McCracken, said:
“Ciclovia is a much loved celebration of safe cycling, family fun and community. After a gap in the programme in 2019 LQ BID were the first to step into the breach to work with funders, stakeholders and political representatives to bring it back. We’re delighted that our efforts were successful and the event will return bigger and better than ever in 2020.
Going forward we want to encourage more people to consider cycling as an everyday mode of transport and to benefit from all the health and well being advantages that it brings. To do that we need better investment in our cycling infrastructure from schools, workplaces, and the transport authorities. Everyone has a role to play and we want to encourage that as part of building a healthier, happier, and more sustainable Belfast.”
Ciclovia Belfast will include traffic restrictions and diversions throughout the duration of the event. For full details please visit www.cicloviabelfast.com.
