Mayoral Lamp Posts Switch-On

These lamp posts celebrated Belfast’s elevation to City status in 1888, and were placed outside each Belfast Lord Mayor’s residence right up to 1997, before being moved permanently to outside the Ulster Hall where they have stood for the past 30 years.

Over the past few weeks, LQ BID have been working to restore the lamp posts to their former glory, and this event represents the first time the lamp posts will be used in many years.

Join us at the Ulster Hall from 5 pm on Wednesday 5th November

• Switch-on by the Lord Mayor Cllr Tracy Kelly;
• Followed by reception in Ulster Hall with music and complimentary canapes and drinks;
• Unique opportunity to get a guided tour of the famous Joseph Carey’s Paintings, a collection of 13 large canvases dealing with the history and mythology of the Belfast region;
• Plus: a surprise appearance from a historic public character.
