Maple: The First Taste of Spring

Spring is round the corner which means it’s almost time for our first event of the season at the Flaxx Boardwalk!

Co-hosted with The Dep Canadian Streetfood & Container Kitchen, which now has a permanent home at the Flaxx Boardwalk, LQ BID invites you to celebrate the traditional Canadian Maple Festival. This early spring festival takes place across Canada every year to mark the first Maple Harvest and marks the start of Spring.

So what will we have going on?

Sugar Shack at the Dep

The Quebec tradition to go to the Cabane a Sucre, otherwise known as sugar shack, in spring time to sample the newly harvested maple syrup is a must do on the calendar. Sampling the Tire sur la neige, translated to pull on the snow, is when the hot maple syrup is poured onto the snow and then pulled from the snow on a stick to then enjoy like a lollipop. Join us at the dep for some Canadian food and to sample the maple taffy!

Guests will also be treated to a complimentary Montreal Smoked Meat Sandwich, brined in Belfast for 7 days and a Canadian Cherry Cola. (Vegan Poutine is available as an alternative).  For dessert guests will be invited to ‘pull’ their own maple taffy stick.
