Nature in the City

Date: 11th February

Time: 5.30-8.00PM

Location: Upstairs in the Pug Ugly’s, 21 Bedford Street

Description: Despite their steel and concrete, crowds and traffic, cities and towns are still ecosystems whose condition profoundly marks the quality of our lives. This session explores how more nature in our cities help clean our air and water, cool urban heat islands, and support our well-being by shielding us from hazards and providing opportunities for rest and play. Cities can also host a surprising amount of biodiversity.

Reviving the High Street

Date: 12th March

Time: 5.30-8.00PM

Location: Upstairs in the Pug Ugly’s, 21 Bedford Street

Description: The dominance of retail on high streets is something of the past. As retail occupancy declines and leaves behind vacant units, there is an opportunity to reimagine the look and feel of our high streets. Accessibility for different modes of transport is a key consideration in designing their public realm.

Mobility

Date: 8th April

Time: 5.00-7.00PM

Location: Ormeau Baths, 18 Ormeau Avenue

Description: The future of mobility is all about  reducing our carbon footprint from transport, reducing congestion and improving connectivity. Both the emerging Eastern Transport Plan and Bolder Vision for Belfast contain far-reaching proposals for achieving these aims in the Belfast City Centre context.
