LQ Autumn Safe & Clean Week Program
1. VOLUNTEER DAYS
We’re delighted to announce our fourth and fifth volunteer events, taking place on the 22nd and 23rd of October from 12:00–14:00. Volunteers from LQ businesses will spend two hours painting, planting, and litter picking across the district, followed by a well-deserved reward at the Clayton Hotel.
So far, we’ve successfully hosted three volunteer events, with employees enthusiastically dedicating their time to improving the local area. Under the guidance of LQ’s team of contractors, participants will have the opportunity to add vibrant planting, take part in a painting project, or help keep our district clean and welcoming. To sign up, contact charlotte@linenquarter.org.
2. PROTECT YOUR BUSINESS SEMINAR
LQ BID are hosting a Protect Your Business seminar, where you will receive practical advice on how to keep your property and employees safe. Hear from our dedicated officer, Sarah Craig as well as her colleagues in the PSNI Design-out Crime team. Anyone is welcome to attend, and we particularly welcome facilities managers and directors of SMEs keen to implement security initiatives. We will also discuss the successes of our Safer District Fund and how members can receive financial support when increasing their building’s safety. This will take place on Tuesday 21st October, from 08.30 at the Clayton Hotel.
To register, email charlotte@linenquarter.org.
3. COMMUNITY ART PROJECT
Building on a pilot project with Donegall Pass Community Forum at Maryville Street, LQ is working with business volunteers to continue the mural, featuring Belfast landmarks. Our volunteers will plant shrubs on a small plot of land, and paint the surrounding wall to create a vibrant community space. LQ BID are also working with the community to encourage children to add to the mural the following week. Volunteers will work under the guidance of local artist, Carla Hodgson.
4. HOSPITALITY DEEP CLEAN
LQ BID funds a dedicated Clean Team six days per week. Our team carry out litter picking, power-washing, graffiti removal and weeding, as well as actioning member requests. This is a direct member benefit which many businesses avail of. Our team work to a schedule Monday-Saturday but during SACW, we have enhanced resource to clean around our hotels and hospitality. Get in touch with requests and we will be sure to accommodate.
5. DRUGS DETECTION DOG
Keep an eye out for our PSNI team as they are joined by specially trained drugs dog to complete patrols of our district. Whilst the dogs are a great way to engage with the public, the increased visibility acts as a deterrent for those trying to sell or consume drugs on our streets.
6. ENHANCED PSNI PATROLS
Our officers will be seen on foot, in the van and even on bikes, engaging with members of the public and businesses to provide advice and reassurance. If you would like them to visit, get in touch, and if you see them out and about, say hello.
7. FREE SAFETY ALARMS & BIKE LOCKS
LQ BID continue to fund safety alarms for anyone working in the district. We also have a small number of bike locks remaining from our Lock It, Mark It event in September. If you work in LQ and need to upgrade your bike lock, get in touch. Email: charlotte@linenquarter.org.
8. STUDENT EVENTS
As we welcome a growing number of students choosing to live in LQ, our PSNI team will be delivering safety talks at Vita, Bruce Street, and Elms on McClintock Street. These sessions aim to build confidence in community policing and promote safety awareness. The talks aren’t just for students, they’re also available for staff across all sectors. Get in touch to arrange a session: charlotte@linenquarter.org.
